Japanese Knotweed in the News | 200k Court case!
Happy new year to you all. We hope you had a pleasant break
Here is a significant reason why you must correctly declare if Japanese Knotweed was/ is at your property.
Jonathon Downing purchased a property in South West London in August 2018 only to discover that the previous owner Jeremy Henderson incorrectly declared the presence of Japanese Knotweed. The subsequent court case resulted in remediation and (mainly) a legal bill of over £200,000
To put this in a bit of perspective, the remediation bill (which we also feel is astronomical at £32,00) was quickly overtaken by £195,000 in legal fees. Which may suggest you’re in the wrong profession
All this for a relatively small infestation of Japanese Knotweed!
As far as we are concerned, we have been keeping ourselves busy with winter cutbacks, de-vegetation works and some tree clearances to prepare sites for development
2023 is looking like another busy year!
