When will it be seen?

  • Usually found in spring through autumn
  • This plant should be treated in the summertime
  • Particularly common near riverbanks and woodlands

What does it look like?

  • It will usually be tall – up to 3m 
  • The stems are thick and tinged with purple 
  • The plant will usually have white, upward-facing flowers

What are the seeds like?

  • Seeds will be dry, flat and oval shaped
  • Usually measure around 1cm long 
  • They’ll  usually feel rigid 
  • One giant hogweed plant can produce up to 50,000 seeds a day
